Tokyo, July 19, 2024—PR Consulting Dentsu Inc. has won the top prize in two separate categories at the 2024 Golden World Awards for Excellence (GWA), organized by IPRA, the International Public Relations Association.
The Lions Good News 2024 project was undertaken by PR Consulting Dentsu and Dentsu Inc. for Japanese media giant Nikkei, Inc.

 

 

Begun in 1990, this year marks the 34th Golden World Awards. The competition receives entries from 45 countries and winners are chosen by a select group of 48 PR experts. The Grand Prix, selected from the category winners, and Global Contribution winners will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held on October 18, 2024, in Serbia.

Nikkei has been the Japan office for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity (hereinafter, Cannes Lions), the world’s largest advertising and creativity festival, since 2019. As part of its activities, it has been running the Cannes Lions information website, Lions Good News, since 2020. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Nikkei took full advantage of its content and used the power of communication to help Japanese companies and organizations overcome challenges to fulfill its responsibility as the Japanese representative of Cannes Lions.

 

 

Specifically, trends were extracted from the Cannes Lions award-winning cases archive and the main ideas were made easy to use and shared on the web site. Surveys were conducted on over 100 NPOs based in Japan, and it revealed that many organizations were in a situation where “information did not reach the target, and therefore they could not meet new supporters.” Solutions were presented in books and lectures. In January 2024, with the cooperation of University of Tokyo, a system was built that leverages AI to automatically systematize and present these cases. Additionally, a module that extracts and presents cases that can be used as reference from all angles was added, exposing users to a variety of cases.

“Lions Good News 2024” not only updates various case studies but also introduces videos of Cannes Lions award-winning cases with Japanese subtitles that can serve as reference for developing communication strategies.
